2023’s Event Lineup Looks Like A Hearty Good Time!

2023’s Event Lineup Looks Like A Hearty Good Time!

Exciting times await Brevard’s locals and visitors with the Heart of Brevard’s (HOB) 2023 event lineup. We’re switching things up this year to ensure the success of our programming, the positive economic impact on downtown businesses, and the community’s enjoyment!

Our Heart Beats for Brevard

While HOB will host fewer events this year, the Board and Events and Marketing Committee conducted a rigorous and strategic evaluation of 2022’s lineup before finalizing the calendar. Producing thoughtful events that promote Brevard’s Downtown is our priority. Nicole Bentley, HOB’s Executive Director, observes, “It’s important that we focus on the quality of our programming and not the number of events.

Break out the planner and add these important dates! They’ll be here before we know it.

White Squirrel Weekend presented by DD Bullwinkel’s Outdoors (May 26-28, 2023) will start in the heart of downtown on Friday evening and run through Sunday afternoon. The weekend event features live music, delicious local food vendors, and a beer garden featuring Brevard’s local craft breweries and wine. There will also be a selection of craft, artisan, and nonprofit vendors.

3rd Annual Art Is In the Air: En Plein Air Festival presented by The Lucy Clark Gallery & Studio (September 11-16, 2023) is a five-day, open-enrollment plein air painting event. The festival welcomes regional artists to share their talents and the beauty of downtown Brevard and surrounding areas. Booths and opportunities to purchase artwork will be available during the Saturday Street Fair. Works created by the artists will be sold at the Wet Paint Show and Sale on the last day, supporting the HOB.

Halloweenfest presented by Brevard Insurance Agency (October 28, 2023) annually delivers free, family-friendly fun, including bounce houses, costume competitions, a parade, Magic Book Bus, a hula hoop dance party, a pumpkin carving contest, food vendors, and more. Downtown local businesses will host a Spooky Stroll Open House for safe trick or treating. Concluding the Halloweenfest activities, HOB will host an Old Time Street Dance for everyone.

Holiday Windows Competition & Walking Tour presented by Comporium (November 24th-December 31st) leads up to the Light Up the Night. Visitors and locals can immerse themselves in an evening of wonder with twinkling lights, illuminated snowflakes, and decorated storefronts. This event features the official tree-lighting ceremony, live music, food trucks, shopping, and festivities for the entire family.

Light Up the Night presented by Connestee Falls Realty (December 1) allows visitors to engage in an evening of wonder with our twinkling lights, illuminated snowflakes, and decorated storefronts. This event features the official tree-lighting ceremony, live music, food trucks, shopping, and festivities for the entire family.

We will also support our valued partnerships with other Brevard for-profit and nonprofit organizations on additional events such as Old Time Street Dances and Think Local Transylvania.

Celebrate the Fourth of July at Brevard College

In 2023, the Fourth of July fireworks will return to Brevard College, a longstanding community partner with years of experience hosting the special local event. After a hiatus of inviting the community to enjoy the campus, the community can anticipate the revival of Independence Day summertime fun, like the Firecracker 5K, the Pendergrast Family Patriotic Pops at the Brevard Music Center, and the Transylvania Community Arts Council Duck Race Fundraiser at Brevard College. And let’s not forget the main event, the fireworks! Brevard’s Mayor, Maureen Copelof, commented, “Instead of a downtown festival, we are focusing our celebration on music, food, and fireworks on the beautiful Brevard College campus. This is possible thanks to the strong partnership between the City and Brevard College. The College has warmly opened their campus to the community for this important patriotic holiday. I look forward to celebrating our country’s birthday with our Brevard community family!”

Get Involved as an Event Volunteer

The only thing that can improve our celebration lineup is a little help from our friends. We always welcome people who share our commitment to highlighting what is so unique about Downtown Brevard. Discover how to be an integral part of our organization’s mission by volunteering
