NCDOT Paving Update: 8/10/23
Below you will find crucial information regarding an upcoming North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) improvement project that will start this Sunday, August 13th.
Please review the project details below, as well as the press release from the City of Brevard linked here.
Project Overview
Start Date: August 13th
Work Schedule: Overnight: In an effort to minimize disruptions during regular business hours, most work will happen at night. While drivers should expect some partial and full lane closures during construction, the contractor does not anticipate any total road closures.
Duration: 1-3 weeks (approximately) per phase
Locations: Phase 1: Main Street from Oaklawn to Broad Street, Phase 2: Main Street from Broad Street to Elm Bend
Scope of Work: The project encompasses milling, paving, and re-striping parking spaces.
The project will begin at the intersection of Oaklawn Street and West Main Street on Sunday, August 13th. Consequently, the affected section of West Main Street will be designated as a “no parking” zone.
Parking Considerations: We discourage overnight parking beginning Saturday, August 12th, to facilitate a smooth transition for the construction activities. Any vehicles left within the project zone on August 13th will be subject to towing.
Communication with Staff and Vendors: Kindly notify your staff, vendors, and delivery drivers about the project and the possibility of limited access during the initial phase. This will help everyone plan their activities accordingly and minimize disruptions.
Sidewalk Items: Please ensure that all items on the sidewalk, such as sandwich boards, planters, and banners, are removed tol safeguard them from any potential damage and debris.
We extend gratitude for your continued support and patience. Please reach out if you have any questions and we will try to get the answers.
