Quick Draw Competition
The Quick Draw Competition invites local artists to participate in a quick two hour paint out in downtown Brevard. After the 2 hour painting period, artists line up on East Main Street to have their one-of-a-kind works of art judged by the Art is in the Air competition judges to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to submit entries into Sunday’s “Wet Paint” Sale.
This event will be one of the most exciting experiences of the week. Together, artists and spectators are immersed in the creative process. See the scenes and how the artists interpret them. Smell the wet paint and get caught up in the excitement of watching paintings of downtown come to life before your eyes!
The Quick Draw Competition is open to all local artists, ages 12+. There will be a Professional Category for artists participating in the Art is in the Air Festival and two categories open to the public: Adult Open 19y/o+ and Youth Open 12-18y/o. The Quick Draw Competition will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2022 during the Art is in the Air Festival. Original works painted on September 17, 2022 between 10am and 12pm are eligible. Artists may enter one surface into the competition. Multiple surfaces may be stamped. Only surfaces stamped and registered are eligible for the competition. Maximum surface size 36” x 36”.
Artists will paint in the vicinity of Downtown Brevard. A map will be provided in advance of the competition.

Youth Category (12-18): $10 advance, $15 at the event
Adult Category (19+): $15 advance, $20 at the event
Professional Category (Art is in the Air Festival Participants Only): Included in Event Fee
Participants may have multiple surfaces stamped at the time of registration for the fee of one entry. All fees are nonrefundable, even if the original surface is unfinished.
Participants in the Adult Open and Youth Open 12-18y/o categories may enter the competition via the registration links below. There are only 20 spots available in each category.
Check-In and Stamping will occur on September 17th at the Quick Draw Booth, located at Courthouse Gazebo (7 E. Main Street). Stamping will begin at 8am and close at 10 am.
Participating artists will provide their own surfaces which must be stamped before beginning the work. Stamping serves as a contest verification for when the surface is returned.
Participants will return works to the Quick Draw Booth. Heart of Brevard’s Quick Draw booth will be located at the Courthouse Gazebo (7 E. Main Street).
Return works to the Quick Draw Booth (located at the Courthouse Gazebo, 7 E. Main Street) by no later than 12:15pm. Works will be judged. The top three pieces from the Adult Open and Youth Open 12-18y/o categories will be shown and presented for sale at the Art is in the Air Wet Paint Show & Sale.
The top three pieces from the Adult Open and Youth Open 12-18y/o categories will be shown and presented for sale at the Art is in the Air Wet Paint Show & Sale. These winning artists will establish a sale price for their submitted work. Art enthusiasts and collectors may view and purchase the pieces at the Art is in the Air Wet Pain Show & Sale. Sales will be encouraged and the Heart of Brevard will retain a 40% commission on sales. Artists will be mailed checks for their purchased work, less the commission, within 30 days.

Works accepted for the Wet Paint Show & Sale that do not sell must be picked up between Tuesday, September 20th and Friday, September 23rd.
