Experience the home town feeling in downtown Brevard. As a vibrant hub for the arts, the downtown is also the crossroads to exceptional outdoor recreation, connecting to national and state forests. Home to the white squirrel, the downtown is host to several annual festivals and special events (including the White Squirrel Music Festival, the Squirrel Box Derby, and the Old Time Music Competition). Catch the home town spirit and visit Brevard and the “Land of the Waterfalls”, Transylvania County.

The annual White Squirrel count is coming up for the Fall. We need folks to walk our town and count squirrels while they forage for winter! There are 36 sectors within a 3 mile radius downtown. Each sector is small enough for a very easy walk, with varied terrains. Also, this is a great time to be outside during the beautiful Fall weather. Within Transylvania County there are approximately 1,000 white squirrels, so let’s make they are still out there!
