Dance to the romantic songs throughout the ages with ballroom DJ Roger Buckner. Vote for your favorite “star” as our local celebrities are partnered with dancing professionals. A great way to raise “fun” and “funds” for TCarts Summer Art Programs for kids.

Jimmy Harris and Tammy Hopkins (tango)
Tammy Hopkins has been the Executive Director of the Transylvania Community Arts Council for the last 5 years and before that she was Ranger Tammy for 10 years at the Cradle of Forestry. In her spare time Tammy is an actor, director and writer. You can currently see her perform in the new Cradle of Forestry movie called There’s Magic in the Forest. You can also catch Tammy every first Tuesday of the month at 3:30 pm on WSQL radio for the Local Art Update on Tammy Tuesday!
Tammy’s hobbies include: kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, camping and swimming in local waterfalls and swim holes.
Her motto: You cannot win if you do not play!
Jimmy Harris, Married to Carri for 16 this month (Feb 25th), three children (Quinn, Cassi, Calla). Owner/operator Harris ACE Hdwe. Past Pres. H.O.B. and current B.O.D. member, Past Pres. C.O.C. and current Board member. Serves on the board at RBC Bank and is the current Mayor of Brevard (11 years). His mother was a dance teacher in Brevard that owned & operated “Stepping Stones School of Dance.”
Glenn Ingram, Jr, ND and Marty Ingram, ND are a husband-and-wife team of naturopathic doctors who own Through the Woods Natural Health. They began dancing together in 2002 while both students at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. These evenings at the Viscount Ballroom were Dr. Glenn’s introduction into the wonderful world of dance, while Dr. Marty has been dancing since the age of 6. She was a member of the Blue Moon Dance Company in Boulder, CO for many years performing ballroom-inspired modern dance.
The Ingram’s 7-month old son, Alex, is their biggest fan. He is already practicing his dance moves by bouncing enthusiastically to all sorts of music!
Tad Fogel and Wanda Lu Paxton (shag)
Tad Fogel is a native of the South Carolina coast and grew up loving “Beach Music” and the “Shag.” While he never danced competitively or took it seriously, he loves moving to the beat! Tad is a 35 year veteran of the broadcasting industry and owns Brevard based Fogel Advertising, specializing in the marketing of promotional products. He is currently serving a 2nd term as President of the Brevard-Transylvania Chamber of Commerce.
Wanda Lu Paxton is the current News Director/Program Director at WSQL 1240 AM, Brevard. Previously, she was a grant winner from the NC Arts Council for the years 1995/96 in the Singer/Songwriter/Composer category. Wanda Lu worked at WNCW, Spindale from 1989 – 1996 as News Director, and has worked for numerous other radio stations, newspapers and in TV. Way back, she attended the NC Governor’s School for Modern Dancing in 1967. At present, Wanda Lu enjoys her family, which includes 11 grandchildren, and she quilts in her spare time.
Tom Cathey, a Colonel and a native of Western North Carolina, now lives in Candler NC and works at Vulcan Materials. He’s loves outdoor activities including bow hunting, hiking and spending time at his cabin in Cruso. Colonel Cathey first began taking dance lessons so that he and his wife Amy could learn to dance together. He spent two years in Irag and plans to start dancing again as soon as he completes in MBA. Tom and Amy have three sons and one grandson.
JeanAnn Taylor loves to dance – just about more than anything. She started taking ballet when she was a young girl and has now traded in her ballet shoes for a pair of cowgirl dance boots. JeanAnn is the Editor of Sophie Magazine. She has many interests including sewing, quilting, beading, ice skating, and gardening. JeanAnn has two grown children, a son who is in the Air Force and a daughter who works at WCU. JeanAnn lives in Asheville.
Lee Starr and Kathy Carr
Lee Starr lives in Pisgah Forest. He works for a truck manufacturer in Fletcher, North Carolina as a technician. He has been teaching dance for the past 20 years, mostly country and swing. Lee has had the pleasure of working out of the Pisgah Dance Academy in Mills River. He has recently been asked by owner-operator Lisa Pucket of the Black Cat Ballroom on Sweeten Creek road in Arden to teach classes in country and swing.
Kathy Carr is a marketing education teacher at Rosman High School. She is thrilled to be participating in this event that combines both her love for dancing and the arts. She is happily married to Travis Carr and they have two sweet, beautiful little girls. She has lived in Transylvania County for 6.5 years.
Sonia Arnold and Mathew Bader (fox trot)
Sonia Arnold came to Brevard in 1968 and worked for many years as a Brevard Middle School teacher of English & art and often doing plays with the youth after school.
She soon became actively involved in the many facets of Brevard Little Theatre. Presently, she is vice-president of the BLT Board of Directors, resident make-up artist, and costume coordinator. In 1995, she founded the BLT Youth Troupe and since then, she has happily directed all the youth troupe’s productions.
When not doing theater activities, she designs and makes jewelry. She is a founding & active member of the local artists’ cooperative, # 7 ARTS. She markets her jewelry under the name of Kaleidoscope.
Sonia has lived in Brevard for forty-two years. She is married to Jerry Arnold—Arnold Insurance Agency–and they have one daughter, Ashli—who presently presides over the costume department and is a costume designer at Flat Rock Playhouse.
Sonia enjoys dancing with her husband (especially shagging) and is presently enjoying the challenge of tap dancing at the Flat Rock Playhouse YouTheatre and the Pisgah Dance Academy.

Mathew Bader, partnering Sonia Arnold and a Pro-AM Student Dancer. Matt had always wanted to try ballroom dancing, so in 2007 he took his first lesson. Little did he know then it would soon be a larger part of his life.
Matt met Lisa Puckett (owner/instructor of Black Cat Ballroom Xcetra) shortly thereafter at a Salsa Night downtown. Sparks flew, and Matt soon knew he was going to be doing more dancing! He continues his dance study under Lisa’s instruction, and has competed at a couple of small competitions. Matt enjoys all of the ballroom and latin/rhythm style dances, but excels at the American Smooth dances, and is very fond of International Style Quickstep.
Matt also does general repairs, remodeling and landscaping as the owner of “The Dancin’ Handyman” , and is owner of ScapeGoat Skateboards. In his spare time , he enjoys “junkin” for interesting items for his and Lisa’s antique business, skateboarding, and refinishing Antique furniture.

Bob Stacy (Dancing with Our Stars Emcee)
Bob Stacy, our emcee for the evening is Bob Stacy who comes to us from the Brevard Little Theatre. His is a retired Army officer who has long been active in community theater, church/chapel drama, and broadcasting. Bob directs Christ Life Ministries, a pastoral counseling ministry in Hendersonville and Brevard. He is also the chaplain of Faith Fellowship Church at the Ardenwoods Retirement Community. If you are a ham radio operator, listen for N4TFS. Bob and June live in Connestee Falls near Brevard.
Roger Buckner was born in Asheville. His ancestors on the Cole side used to own Looking Glass Falls. He’s been dancing for 14 years as a social dancer, not for competition. Judi & Foster Lampert, owners of Dance Lover’s USA have been his instructors. Roger joined the Marine Corps on his 18th birthday and ended up serving in Vietnam on two tours. As a former sergeant for the Asheville Police, Roger was commended by Governor Jim Hunt for bravery, but more importantly being a ‘fine citizen of our state.” Roger enjoys volunteering as a ballroom DJ and is honored to be our DJ for the evening.
